If you are someone like me that has made the switch to mostly natural products then you definitely need to head over to Social Nature and sign up! It's the only site that I know about that gives you the opportunity to try natural products and post reviews.

Now, back to the product in question. This serum so far has been great on my skin. It smells pleasant and goes on smooth with no greasy after feel. It soaks into my skin well and doesn't pill when I apply moisturizer over top. It comes in a large enough format that I feel like it should last me at least six months of regular day and night use. I use one to two pumps in my hand and then rub together and apply to my face and neck. A little product goes a long way. In terms of noticing a difference in my skin I haven't really noticed much of a difference but I don't feel like I've used it consistently enough yet to accurately tell if it's working better than my current face products that I purchase. The only downside is the fact that the product packaging doesn't tell what percentage of Matrixyl this serum has. I'm currently using a full regime from The Ordinary and my current products list that it's Matrixyl 10%. I wish I had an easier way to compare this to what I'm currently using to see if it's worth the price tag. The serum is on the pricey end for me personally as I've pretty much exclusively switched to The Ordinary products and am now used to that price point for all my skincare. It's hard to shell out more than $20 on one product now that I've been using these cheaper products for the last year. Overall, I was happy to receive the Derma E serum to try as it would not have been something that I would purchase without trying first due to the price point.Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13813303586160651123noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-1591209132800622802019-03-20T14:08:00.000-04:002019-03-20T14:08:54.361-04:00Fitbit Versa ReviewI will preface this review by saying if I was writing this a year ago I would have raved about the Versa and how much I love it. Now that I've had it for around eight months I can honestly say that I'm switching to an Apple watch and never turning back. Fitbit used to be such a great company that stood behind their products, but I find since they have expanded their line of products the customer service has gone downhill and they are slow to release fixes and updates. They are also quite quick to replace current products with new ones and dropping support for older products which is another sore point for me. I don't want to own something for a year and all of a sudden have it not supported!

I'll keep this review in point form as I feel like this will become a rant if I list all the downsides of the Versa in any other format.

Pros:

Relatively inexpensive when compared to other fitness watches on the market

Battery life is amazing (I get 5+ days depending on my activity level so I never have to worry about forgetting my charger)

Display is clean and easy to navigate

Lots of watch face options to choose from

Stats are displayed in an easy to read format

Set up was quick and easy (some people report having a terrible time during set up but this was not my experience)

Text message and call notifications can be set up to come through your phone (though you can't actually answer these messages via the watch itself)

Heart rate tracking is very accurate (tested this at my doctors office and it was only one beat off from his readings on two occasions)

Cons:

Connected GPS never works (I've tried multiple times and it rarely connects and the rare time it does it drops after a few seconds)

Sync never works (I have to open the app on my phone, go to the Today section of my watch and manually sync at least three times before the stats will update to match what is on my phone)

New update took ages to show up and did not fix any of the issues (Stairs climbed is still astronomically inaccurate, steps count when driving or moving hands slightly, calories never quite seem accurate)

Stairs climbed is crazy high and is not at all accurate which has a cascade effect on calories burned etc.

Steps will record on the watch when I'm sitting and doing something as slight as typing on my laptop (also records steps and stairs climbed when driving)

Screen randomly gets stuck on the Fitbit logo and nothing will respond (This happened randomly last night while watching TV and would not restart for anything. I had to wait and it must have recovered at some point during the night as my alarm went off and it seems to be working fine now)

Support for Fitbit is REALLY unhelpful and mostly non existent even for the most basic of troubleshooting

It's nearly impossible to remove the straps to change them.

Screen protection is a must (there are too many reports of broken/scratched/cracked/detached screens out there to change it)

Not compatible with a lot of phones (including the newer iPhone's which is absurd)

Quick reply to text messages only works for android devices

Reminders to move have stopped working and no idea how to get them working again

Silent alarm is very weak and stops after a few vibrations so I have to set an additional alarm in case I sleep through the vibrations

Silent alarm sometimes doesn't go off in the morning at all

Not as waterproof as they claim so I do not wear it in water (just Google and there are tons of reports of the watch dying after swimming)

Background: I was one of the original testers of the Inhibitif product line back in 2013 when the brand was basically brand new. I think this was right before Shoppers Drug Mart started to carry the line. I would go to their office on Queen St. E in downtown Toronto once a week and they would take some progress photos and film some video Q&As. It was pretty cool and I met the founder of the company during that time. The product worked amazingly well and I was pretty blown away by their whole office space and lab that they had at the time. After that was over I'm not really sure why I never paid close attention to what they were doing because if I did I probably could have saved myself years of trial and error, breakouts, angry skin, and wasted money.

Fast forward to last year with the media coverage of the founder and my sisters growing interest in the brand and I finally made it to a store to browse and pick up a few gifts for her and another of my friends. After the holidays my friend insisted that I try the products I purchased for him as he was in love. I tried them and also fell in love so 2019 begins my addiction to The Ordinary products.

Over the next few days I will be reviewing the products that I have picked up so far and use on a regular basis. These are:
- High Adherence Silicone Primer
- Coverage Foundation
- Lactic Acid 10% + HA
- 100% Plant Derived Squalane
- Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
- Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
- Retinol 0.5% in Squalane

Also, I have just discovered that if you email Deciem in their contact us section Here there is a place to send your skincare concerns through Products + Regimes, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "What products should I use?". They will email you back a list of products to use based off those concerns and any pictures you send them. I'm trying it out to see what they recommend and in what order to apply products so I will post that when they respond.
I'm not sure if anyone actually stumbles upon here anymore as it's been nearly 3 years since I've logged in. A lot has happened in those three years. For starters, I lost access to the email that was associated with this account and I had no idea how to recover this blog with my email address so I kind of left it as it was and forgot about it. There were many times when I wanted to come back and make a post, but I was locked out. Fast forward to today being a slow snowy day at work and I had some time to do some Googling for a solution. I've obviously found one as I'm here and back in action!!

I have so many updates and things to blog about so if anyone is still out there stay tuned for new content!Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13813303586160651123noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-34991983410171206962016-03-15T13:03:00.001-04:002016-03-15T13:03:22.494-04:00Biore Baking Soda Skincare Products
I have been curious about these products since first hearing about them and so to get to try them was exciting. After giving them a thorough try out I am a bit disappointed. I do like the products and I do love Biore products in general, but for me these left my usually oily skin feeling very dry and dehydrated. I don't think these are something that can be used every day. The cleansing scrub activates with water which I find to be a messy pain. It comes dry in the bottle and you use it with some water to cleanse your face. I find myself wanting to use this less often because of the extra step and mess involved trying to get this product onto my face. The cleanser I do like as it really seems to clean my pores well enough, but again it is extremely drying to my skin so I have reduced it to a once a week type of product so that I get the cleaning benefits without overdrying my skin out. They are both effective products, but I would say to use them once or twice a week depending on your skin type and using a more gentle cleanser the rest of the week. This way you get the cleansing benefits of the Biore products without the side effects.

*I received the cleansing scrub and pore cleanser to review free as part of the Influenster program. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-43297568661086399442014-12-07T23:41:00.001-05:002014-12-07T23:41:08.824-05:00Influenster Keurig 2.0 Follow Up ReviewThis is a review follow up after having actually tried the machine a few times now. I set everything up Friday night so that Saturday morning I could have it ready to go for a fresh cup of coffee to take on my way to work. The machine preheated quickly and I was able to have a fresh hot cup of coffee in about three minutes without any mess of having to use my french press, boil a kettle, let everything sit for a bit to get stronger, etc. In that sense this machine is awesome! I also just made the hot chocolate cup tonight which was a bit less awesome since I'm not entirely a hot chocolate fan, but there is another reason for the two cups I have had so far to be less than awesome.

I first have to say that I completed set up to the letter that was written in the manual and even gave everything that I could a quick wash out like I normally do with new things prior to setting everything up. My coffee that I made for work Saturday morning smelled funny and tasted heavily of plastic. Thinking it was a new machine issue with just the first cup I made sure to run a couple rounds of hot water before making my hot chocolate tonight just in case. Well the hot chocolate also had a strong plastic taste. I'm not sure if my machine is defective? At this point in time I have run about two complete rounds of water from the reservoir and it still comes out smelling like strong hot plastic water when I do hot water.

I use a Keurig machine that we have at work and everything tastes fine and there is no strong plastic smell or taste when I brew coffee or get hot water from that machine so I do know Keurig machines are capable of making drinks that don't taste like chemical plastic. I just haven't yet figured out why mine is producing undrinkable plastic instead of delicious coffee. I want to love this machine because I love the convenience of using it in the morning as opposed to perk coffee. I also know that I love the Keurig machine we have at work because it makes excellent coffee. Any ideas why mine does not?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-47067408224840186902014-12-05T20:28:00.000-05:002014-12-05T20:28:47.543-05:00Influenster Keurig 2.0I received an email Thursday from Influenster saying that I had been selected for a Keurig Voxbox. I had assumed at the time that I had qualified to receive some k-cups to test out or some such thing. I was trying to think back to recent surveys as I do not own a Keurig at all and was wondering why I would qualify to test something that I didn't even have the means to use! We do have a machine at work though that I could have used to test had the package been what I thought it was. I did some internet searching when I got home from work, but all the information I was finding was from a campaign in September where they got to test the machine. That made me wonder...Were we going to get a machine too?! Today my question was answered when I was notified that I had a parcel to pick up at the front desk. Inside the massive outer box was this equally massive box:

IT'S A KEURIG MACHINE! Yes, Influenster sent me the Keurig 2.0 machine to test and review! I am a self proclaimed coffee addict due to my crazy work scheduling so this is probably one of the best campaigns I could ever be in. Inside that box were these essentials to get me started:

There are four various types of single k-cups and two of the larger k-cups to do the 4 pot carafe in the starter pack. Plus if you register your machine on the Keurig website you will get a coupon code for buy two boxes, get two free! That is a great deal considering that makes the boxes with 24 k-cups about $8.50 each which works out to about .35/per cup of coffee.

Now I haven't actually tried the machine yet since I picked it up tonight and don't drink coffee in the evening. The actual testing it will have to happen tomorrow morning before I head off to work. My sister bought be a great ceramic tumbler for Christmas a few years ago so now I think that will get more use as I would save money buying k-cups even at regular price and bringing my coffee with me vs. buying from Starbucks on my way.

Pros to the machine/Keurig brand so far:

It looks like the website has some good variety to choose flavoured coffee or specialty coffee.

The machine looks nice and is pretty quiet when heating up and brewing.

The machine doesn't get super hot and actually stays cold. I could move the machine no problem immediately after doing the cleaning brew. This is a great pro considering the machine is currently set up on top of an antique wooden table with a glass protective top. I simply have no where else to put it and storing it isn't an option either since storage space is tight.

I've always wanted a Keurig and now that I have one I can see myself slashing my coffee costs in half by using the machine for specialty coffee instead of going out for a cup.

Registering the machine gives you a code for two free boxes of k-cups when you purchase two.

Comes with a carafe feature so that I can brew at least four cups when I have visitors. Previous to this I had no way to make anything other than individual cups with my french press so I would never drink coffee with guests at home. We would go out!

Cons to the machine/Keurig brand so far:

This machine is pretty large considering. I currently use a french press due to space issues and a tiny shared kitchen. I have had to set this machine up on a side table that I have because there simply isn't enough counter space for the size of this machine! Probably not a good idea for anyone sharing a condo that has a tiny kitchen with roommates.

The machine apparently only works with certain k-cups which means no going to Winners/Marshalls/Homesense to buy other branded k-cups for a cheaper price tag than the ones on the Keurig site. If you google there are ways around this, but I really wish Keurig had of left this feature out to begin with so that people could choose which k-cups they wanted to purchase and use. There is a particular brand that I buy and use in our k-cup at work that has the most amazing caramel flavoured coffee. I'm sad that they won't work in this machine and I honestly think this feature is ridiculous and a step back for the Keurig brand.

The special k-cup thing also means you won't be able to buy one of those reusable pods and do your own coffee. Another downfall as I stockpile and have tons of bagged coffee at home. It would be nice to be able to purchase one of these re-usable pods so that I could brew a carafe of ground bagged coffee if I so choose. This option would also be more environmentally friendly since there would be less waste from disposable k-cups. I hope they figure out a way to make this work as I could see myself using the machine way more often if I could use a reusable pod.

The website is out of stock on the flavoured k-cups that I want to buy! Not sure how often they stock the online store so I will have to monitor it and see how long it takes for them to do a restock.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-85693825076258583482014-05-29T21:21:00.000-04:002014-05-29T21:28:37.379-04:00Influenster ImPress Manicure VoxBoxWhere do I start with these nails? I guess I will start with what I received. I received a box in the mail from Influenster to test these ImPress Manicure nails out. My box contained the 'It Girl' design which appears close to 'shout' in the image and a Disney Villains in Evil Queen (grey/purple duo chrome).

Now my first issue with these nails upon taking them out of the box was seeing that they are actual press on nails and not the polish appliques that I was expecting. I admittedly knew nothing about the brand before receiving them in the mail and hadn't had the time to research before hand what kinds of products they produced. Upon seeing the products for the first time I noticed how short and stumpy these nails appear. I normally keep fairly long natural nails that I polish myself and because the length of these press on nails were incredibly short I had to trim mine down to nothing so that they wouldn't show underneath the press on nails. I find the length far too short! My second issue with these nails is that they just look cheap and tacky. I knew right away that wearing these out of the house to work would not be acceptable based on the designs I received and how childish they looked on. Third these nails do not take wear and tear well at all. These nails barely lasted a full hour before they started lifting up and eventually falling off and this was with just doing normal every day things like typing. I would hate to see how they would hold up at my day job where I am constantly using my hands. Overall, I'm rather disappointed in these nails. I feel like design wise they are flawed and are a bit behind the times especially when brands like Revlon have nail appliques which can be trimmed to fit all nail sizes, shapes, and live up to the wear time claimed in their advertising. I would only recommend these nails to someone that has a close nail shape to the false nail and if you only planned to wear them to an event for a few hours where you weren't planning on using your hands. Of course I think the smell of the products gave it away for a lot of people as I know this brand typically has a distinct smell (which I love) compared to other brands.

The products we received from Influenster for the big reveal are from the Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser line which includes: Shampoo, Conditioner, Reconstructing Butter, and a Split End Serum.

Overall, I am really impressed with these products as my hair is softer and has a shine to it that it never had in the past. I've ruined my hair through the last few years of bleach and dye tortures and am now trying to grow it out to have long hair again. I feel like I may have an easier go of growing it out with these products. So far I have noticed the amount of hair that splits while combing/styling to be reducing which I hope that means good things! I would definitely purchase this line again when I run out since it is from an affordable line of products that actually fit into my budget.
I received this mystery box of products to test out from Influenster. We have not been told what line of product this is from! Basically all we know is that it's by L'Oreal. My first impression of this product right away was how amazing it smelled! Just opening the box alone was enough to release the scent of the product that was enclosed. I have very damaged hair currently from the last few years working as a hair model and sitting through bleaching/dying/cutting/styling etc. This product actually smooths out my damaged hair and makes it actually look nice and not at all damaged which is amazing considering the current state of my hair. I'm also attempting to grow my hair out after having it cut super short the past few years and I think this product may actually help me stick with the awkward grow out phase as long as I can keep my hair looking healthy in the process.

We were told to take a guess at what the products may be and I currently think based on the smell that it may be something from the Garnier line of products. I think the smell is very similar to that range of products though I have not really tried Garnier products in the past outside of those sample packets you receive once in awhile. We will be sent the full sized products within the next week so all will be revealed later! I've been busy with school and work with little time left to even sleep! Tonight is a rainy night so I figured it was the best night to update and post about this great little box that showed up in my mailbox about a month ago.
I signed up for the Revlon Selects program awhile ago and received the first box which was fantastic and I absolutely loved everything in (except for the nail polish), I jumped at the chance to be able to try another box. This time it was all focused on nails.
The kit contained two polish and some beautiful nail appliques! The appliques are 3D jewel and are jam packed with glitter and colour. I'm excited to try these, but have never used the nail appliques before so I am hoping they are easier to apply than some of the reviews I have read!

The first polish is an amazing duo chrome called Topaz. I've already used this colour and it is absolutely stunning! I received a ton of compliments on it. The only downside is that it is a very thin formula. I did three coats and probably could have applied a fourth because I still had visible nail lines. Next time I think I will try layering it over another polish to cut down on how many coats I need to do.

The last polish is called Natural Pink and it is a very nice neutral looking colour. I'm not normally a neutral polish type of person since I usually go for bright and bold, but I think this might make a great job interview polish since I am on the hunt for a professional job now that school is finished!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-49894031142265190822012-12-25T19:19:00.004-05:002012-12-25T19:23:02.622-05:00Revlon Selects Expressionist "Vincent Van Gold"I just filed my nails down to nothing in preparation for boxing day madness. I work high end retail so we are anticipating a crazy day tomorrow! My nails were getting to that length where I would be too afraid of breaking one off and making them sore while rushing around in the craziness tomorrow. My nails grow super fast so I filed them down to little stubs and decided to paint them with one of the new colours I received in the Revlon package.

In the bottle this colour is super stunning. The purple shines blue or purple depending on the light and it looks great on the nail as well! The bottle is super awkward to hold and will take me more than a few times of using to get used to how heavy it is. I did a super terrible messy job painting the base colour because it was just so hard to control while holding the heavy top part. The first coat went on well and seemed to dry quite well but I ran into problems after the second coat. I painted my nails around 4pm and when I went to get a plate out for supper around 6 I ended up smudging the polish off my thumb! That's two hours of dry time and it still wasn't dry enough for me to grab a plate to eat! For me this is a deal breaker since who has 2+ hours to sit around while they wait for a coat of polish to dry? I have many Revlon polishes and they all seem to go on well and dry well. I have no idea what they did with this formula but they really need to change it. Even now over 3 hours later and I am still noticing it smudging and getting imprints when I do anything. I don't do thick coats of polish so it's not that I have it on too thick at all. It could actually use another coat but that won't be happening because the drying time is similar to waiting for actual paint to dry!

The nail art brush is nice, but as I am still design challenged. No brush will ever help me achieve cute nail art like some bloggers manage to achieve. This is clearly evident in my failed Christmas box and ribbon I tried to do on my accent nails...I may just use the gold as a nail polish and do an accent nail in gold since it is a stunning colour. I just don't have the patience to draw designs on my nails and have it turn out nice.

Overall, I really don't see myself purchasing this in the future mainly because of the drying time. If Revlon could fix up the formula to make it something that doesn't take hours I would maybe be a bit more interested. I found these duos in neon colours at Marshall's on clearance for $3 when I was doing Christmas shopping. I would really be interested in trying those ones, but I fear the formula is going to be the same. I'm glad I waited and tried the ones from the package first because I never expected a drying time like this with a Revlon nail polish.

I received the box a few weeks ago but it was during the midst of my stressful exam week so I really haven't had a chance to use the products yet since I went straight from exams to working seasonally and that has left me no days off so far because of how busy the holidays are for retail.
For now I will leave you a teaser of what the package contained and I will post later and review each product individually once I have had a chance to try them out.
The first thing I found was this nail polish duo called Moon Candy in the shade combo Orbit. It was hard to find the products in all that wrapping! I didn't want to make a huge mess so it was like a treasure hunt trying to locate and pull out everything in the package while leaving the paper pile undisturbed. This is a pretty purple colour with a flaky top coat.

The next thing I pulled out was the eye shadow and I am so excited to try this one out! I love the colours and how they sparkle. This is the photoready eyeshadow palette in Metropolitan. It's definitely a very me shade and I can't wait to find some occasion to wear it! I'm thinking for New Year.

Next I pulled out the lipstick and nearly died! I am so in love with this colour! Ultimate suede lipstick in Backstage. It's a very pretty deep red/burgundy colour that is completely in line with what I normally wear. I am very excited to try this one out!

Finally I found the last of the products hidden. The nail polish duo is the nail art expressionist in Vincent Van Gold. I LOVE the name of the polish and I am fairly nail art challenged to say the least, so I plan on trying this one out tonight to do a manicure to get me through boxing day since my Christmas one has long since chipped. They also included a cute glittery nail file. I'm not sure I'm in love with the file because I find the glitter does shed a bit and I really don't want to clean up a glitter mess after filing my nails. It may be best to use for a quick touch up and not to actually file all your nails down with.

Here is a group shot of everything that was in the package together. I'm very pleased that this program sent the colours they did. I think they tried to keep the colours to something that would go well with every skin tone. I was worried that without filling out a profile of any kind that I would be sent products that were completely out of the range of shades that I would ever use, so I was pleasantly surprised when these showed up. I know some posters on Facebook have said they disliked the lip colour but I am very happy they included this shade! I do get that it's hard to please everyone, but I feel like Revlon really tried to put together products that would work for almost everyone.
My family is pretty practical and they don't share the same tastes in designer things that I do, so I know the majority of my wish list they would die if they knew the actual cost of some of the items. Most of the time they don't see these splurge items as practical but I can always dream! Anyway I wish to dream of all the things I would treat myself too if I won the lottery before Christmas!
I was lucky enough to be invited to the grand opening of the new Raindrops store in the concourse level of the Holt Renfrew Centre on Bloor St. I was in love with the poncho on the mannequin, and they had some beautiful frilly umbrellas that were not so practical but very cute!
At the end of the night (or whenever you were leaving, whichever came first), they were handing out cute little media gift bags! Mine contained a pretty purple striped super compact umbrella. This will come in handy since mine literally had the metal parts snapped in the wind a few weeks back and I had yet to replace it!

I have been an Always brand user for awhile but I normally use the ultra
thin slender pads that are supposed to be great for teens. I'm not a
teen but I don't have much of a flow so they work really well and aren't
overly bulky. I find that these pads for me were only useful at night
when I slept because the back was wider so that I wouldn't leak out onto
my sheets if I slept on my back. I found the wideness of them a bit
uncomfortable to wear all day, as well as them being too long front and
back to wear during the day and still feel comfortable. I felt like
people could see my pad at the front and back through my shorts because
of how long they were. I would definitely like to see a smaller version
(maybe another great for teens type) for me to even consider purchasing
them.

I also find the scent of these products a little odd. I'm not quite sure
what it is but there is something about them that sort of smells like a
floor cleaner to me. I also thing I may be allergic to whatever is used
to make them scented since I normally don't have problems with other
Always products and these made me itchy. I would really like a non
scented option or else I don't think I would be able to purchase them
again. The itching sensation was definitely noticeable while only
wearing these pads and I felt like I had to re-arrange myself or scratch
the itch when I had them on.

I love the packaging of the Infinite products and wish that Always would
consider changing all of their products to a box format. It makes it
much easier to store and open and close without having a ripped open bag
sitting around. The coupons inside are a great bonus as well because I
find feminine products seriously over priced. I mean come on
manufacturers make it a bit cheaper for us ladies since these are
practically necessity items!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-65872718534409281632012-06-13T18:33:00.001-04:002012-06-13T18:33:17.779-04:00Always Radiant Liners

I received this product to review from Chick Advisor.

These liners are designed to fit any type of underwear from boy shorts to thongs. This is a huge plus for some people, but for myself on the other hand this isn't a selling factor as I tend to always wear the same style of underwear and I don't need to adjust the liner size for the type of underwear that I tend to wear. This definitely makes them more versatile than other liners on the market currently.

These liners are super thin and definitely feel like you aren't wearing anything at all. This is important for me because I tend to always wear a liner daily unless I am wearing pads during that time of the month. At first I was concerned because they were so thin, especially around the outer edges where you can wrap them around as wings. I was surprised with how well they absorbed even though they are extremely thin. They stay in place really well and don't shift or crinkle up like some liners. When it's time to remove them they come off without leaving glue residue on your underwear like I find some liners do (I'm looking at you individually wrapped Always liners).

The package is a bright and colourful box that is very easy to open and close without having a ripped open bag of liners
sitting around. The package contains 64 liners that are not individually packaged. A bit harder to carry them in your purse if you need them, but I think it's worth the compromise. They cost a little more than the liners I use regularly,
but I would definitely buy them and stock up if they go on sale. I have read that they are cheaper if you purchase them at Walmart so I will have to check into that next time I go and see how they are priced compared to what I currently use and maybe stock up before I move to an area without a Walmart!

I received a coupon for a free box of this hair colour from their Facebook promotions they were having a few months back. I can't remember how long ago it was exactly since it seems like it took forever to arrive in the mail. When checking out the various shades online it seemed like they had a great selection with 24 different colours to choose from. The reality though is that all the stores I went to maybe had 12 different shades on display. Only two of those being reds. I was a bit disappointed in this as I only had the option of doing Light Red Brown (too orange looking on the box), or Deep Cherry Brown (looked kind of purple on the box). I hunted everywhere looking for Dark Red Brown but no stores around me carried it, so the other night I went and picked up the Deep Cherry Brown and hoped for the best. I knew if I went with the lighter colour it would end up turning orange on my hair since I have a lot of natural reddish orange tones in my hair to begin, and colour doesn't stay too well in my hair so I went with the darker shade in hopes that when it fades out it will be the perfect colour and I won't need to deal with bright orange hair until I decide to do it again.

The box comes with a pair of gloves (that are very hard to get on), a squeeze bottle, a bottle of the colour to mix in with the squeeze bottle, and a very generous sized conditioner that will definitely last awhile since you are only supposed to do it once a week to seal in colour and keep it from fading. I may do the conditioner a couple of times a week since my hair doesn't really absorb colour as well and usually washes out in about a week. I will see if this makes a difference in how long the colour actually lasts.

Now the application was a bit weird and tricky. I'm not sure how much I like the foam. I mean sure it doesn't drip or anything, but the foam makes it hard to see if you actually have all of your hair coated. It's also very hard to try and do yourself since you have to squeeze the bottle for foam every time. It would be much easier if it actually pumped out like soap. I ended up with hair dye all over the bottle and table because you had to actually pick the bottle up and squeeze it, then set it down to coat your hair with the foam and repeat until the bottle was empty. I wasn't quite sure how to manage doing a strand test with this dye so I just applied and hoped for the best! I have shoulder length hair and there was way more than enough product to cover my hair. I actually probably could have done it twice with the one box but it was already mixed up so there was no way I could unfortunately. If you have long hair I definitely think one box will be more than enough to do your hair. The foam definitely doesn't foam as much as it shows in the instructions. It's about half as foamy which had me worried at first that it wasn't white and really foamy when I finished but it still worked all the same I think.

On my hair I don't find the colour very true to the box. The box makes the colour look purplish while on my hair it's a nice cherry red. I normally have a very hard time getting hair colour to keep in my hair so I will have to see how this colour washes and wears after awhile. For the price I would hope it lasts longer than a week or two. I purchased mine at Shopper's Drug Mart and it was $14.99, though it is cheaper at around $12.99 at Walmart.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-33196144923777679972012-06-02T18:45:00.002-04:002012-06-02T18:50:25.046-04:00Claritin Rapid Dissolve Tabs ReviewI received the Claritin Rapid Dissolve Tabs to test out as part of Bzz Agent.

I wanted to wait until I had finished the entire box of 10 tablets that was provided to test before writing the review. These tabs were designed to be an "on the go" type of tablet. They dissolve on your tongue much like those Listerine strips that came out years ago that were popular but seem to have disappeared pretty much (at least from my area). No water is needed which is supposed to make them great to take anytime. The only drawback on this claim is that on the package it tells you to take them on an empty stomach which pretty much takes away the "on the go" portability of them since you are pretty much forced to take them in the morning when you first wake up, or late at night before you go to bed if you aren't a late night snacker.

The claims are that it provides fast, effective relieve from:

Itchy, Watery Eyes

Runny Nose

Sneezing

Itchy Nose and Throat

Now for myself after taking the full 10 days worth, I honestly couldn't tell any difference in my allergies when I took the medication versus days I forgot to take it or just didn't take it. I feel like the medication in this form is less effective compared to other allergy medications. Now I'm not a normal Claritin user, I take the generic version of Reactine which is a different type of allergy medication. So it might just be that this medication isn't effective for my body. I didn't notice any relief from any of my severe allergy symptoms. My worst allergy symptoms have always been itchy, runny eyes (I'm also a contact wearer so this really irritates me in the spring when things are blooming), and I sneeze like crazy during the entire allergy season. My lesser symptoms are the runny nose and scratchy throat. Those I can live with, but without effective allergy medications I cannot live with the eye problems and the sneezing that comes with having severe allergies. During the trial I didn't have any relief from my major symptoms so I definitely feel like this won't be a product for me. I'm not sure if it's the formula, or the type of medication, but I get much more relief from my normal medication and can't wait to start taking it tonight.

I'm not sure what the price of these go for as I have been unable to locate them on store shelves in my area so far, but I am guessing they will be priced around the same as other Claritin products. If they are way more they would not be worth it in my opinion because there is no added convenience to this product and I'm not sure if it's even as effective as the "old fashioned" take with water tablets. This is by far my most favourite nail polish colour of all time. I only have a mini bottle currently but need to track down a full size one asap! It's from the 2010 Fall Swiss Collection so I'm not sure how hard it will be to find a full size bottle at this point. It's the perfect red.
I received this product as part of a set of three products to review from Chick Advisor.

I was wearing of the leave in conditioner aspect of this product, and I
am not normally a hair product type. The scent of this product is the
same as the shampoo and conditioner which is great, though I'm not sure
how well the scent will pair with other shampoos. I am sure to run out
of the shampoo and conditioner before the spray.

I have been using this product before straightening my hair so far. I
love that this product doesn't leave my hair feeling crispy like I put
product in my hair. That is the main reason I don't use hair products
because I hate the way they make my hair feel. I find it leaves my hair
looking a bit smoother when I straighten it. I have wavy/curly hair
naturally, and since cutting it shorter my hair is definitely more curly
which makes this product almost a must to keep the frizz to a minimum.

I would definitely recommend this product as long as you hold it back
far and don't spray directly onto the scalp or roots it won't make your
hair greasy. I'm not sure how it will pair with the scents from other
shampoos so that will be something to take into consideration if you are
purchasing it to use with other products because the scent from this
product will linger through the day.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-64495543103482224982012-05-21T20:43:00.001-04:002012-05-21T20:58:35.498-04:00Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light Conditioner

I received this product as part of a set of three products to review from Chick Advisor.

As with the shampoo I was kind of worried about these being a part of
the Pantene brand just because I find Pantene products don't work well
on my oily hair.

The conditioner has the same scent as the shampoo and spray. It's not
overpowering but definitely a scent that stays so you can smell it
during the day.

With the conditioner in this line I definitely need to remind myself
when I'm in the shower to use very little of it! This can be both a good
thing, and a bad thing. Good because you use less product so you can
justify the hefty price tag since it will last much longer. On the other
hand it's a bad thing, because I find with the conditioner it's too
moisturizing for my hair. Just before receiving the products to test I
had my hair cut shoulder length and I find the conditioner leaves the
ends of my hair looking a little bit stringy if I use too much.

I definitely think this product would work out best for someone who has
dry or damaged hair. It just doesn't work out very well paired with my
oily hair. I need conditioning but this is just a bit too moisturizing
for my hair type.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717517638902672864.post-21213281161229160672012-05-21T20:31:00.001-04:002012-05-21T20:31:36.722-04:00Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light Shampoo

I received this product as part of a set of three products to review from Chick Advisor.

At first I was sort of weary about testing out products with the Pantene
brand because from past experience the Pantene formula didn't pair well
with my super oily thick hair. My hair would look greasy again in a few
hours time after washing it and I never liked the general feel of my
hair after using the brand. I think the Aqua Light product has made me
change my mind on hating the brand completely.

The formula with this shampoo just feels better compared to other
shampoos from the brand. It has a nice scent that isn't too
overpowering, but yet it lingers just enough to make me feel like my
hair is still freshly washed. It holds up well when compared to the
other brands of shampoo I use, though I could do without the extra
hydration it provides because my hair does not need it! I do find this
shampoo to be nice and light weight and it rinses out of my hair well.

I feel like price wise it isn't the best deal out there, but for someone
who maybe has thin or dry hair they could definitely benefit from
trying the product out, since I feel like the formula of this shampoo is
made for those hair types.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
